Update from Mr Newton

Thursday 5th November 2020.

Dear Parent/Carer

As an update, please can I make you aware that there are six students who have tested positive for Covid-19 across Year 8-11.  In line with official guidance, we have contacted the Leicester Education Effectiveness team and Local Health Protection Team who advise us on the actions we need to take.  We have been asked to identify the “close contacts” of the student testing positive during the 48 hours before the onset of symptoms.  The definition of close contacts follows both government and NHS guidance.  Please be assured that the identified close contacts have been informed, along with the student testing positive, and advised to isolate for the recommended self-isolation periods.

If we have further cases, we will continue to follow the process outlined above and if your child is identified as a close contact, you will receive either a phone call or an in-touch message asking them to isolate for the recommended isolation period.  If your child is in school when they are identified as a close contact, we will contact parents to make arrangements for them to be able to get home as quickly and safely as possible.  Students are also able to use public or school transport if they are deemed a close contact but are not showing any symptoms.  With this in mind, please can you ensure we have your most up-to-date contact details.

If your child shows any symptoms of Covid-19 at any time or tests positive even when not in school or during self-isolation, please follow the government guidance and inform the school as soon as possible so we can take the necessary steps.

Please do remember that, should your child have to isolate, they can access their work via SHAREPOINT under Subject, Document, Remote Learning 2020/21, then by teacher folder.  If your child has any questions about the work, they can email their teacher using their school email address.  Teacher email addresses use their first initial and surname e.g. jbloggs@prioryacademies.co.uk

We thank you for your understanding and support at what is a very different and challenging time for all.

Yours faithfully
